NBA Free Agency Grades

Today we are going to talk about the winners the losers and hand out some grades hopefully these front offices have been studying diligently. Who will fail and who get an A?

NBA free agency has come and gone and class is in session below are the best and worst graded teams of this years off season.

Golden State Warriors They kept Curry and Durant and most of their role players. I give them a B but honestly as the best team they probably have nothing to worry about.

Cleveland Cavaliers

They resigned Kyle Korver and brought in Calderon for PG depth unfortunately for them they don’t have the cap room to do much else and Boston just closed the gap. C+

Boston Celtics Avery Bradley may have walked for nothing in a year instead Boston got a PF upgrade for him and oh yeah they also signed someone named Gordon Hayward. A

San Antonio Spurs They kept their core together and signed Rudy Gay for cheap. If he’s healthy Gay will give San Antonio a dangerous bench scorer in the Jamal Crawford mold.

A

Oklahoma City Thunder Not sure how charges weren’t filed but they added superstar Paul George for the low price of Oladipo and Sabonis. Suddenly the Thunder are dangerous again.

A

Sacramento Kings This is the only non contender to make my upper grades list. Yes they will be terrible and they haven’t made the playoffs since Reagan was in office but they seem to finally be putting it all together. I was very impressed with there last two drafts and Zach Randolph, George Hill and Vince Carter are great vets on short term deals that can be used as trade chips later.

B+

Most of the league I grade between a C and a B however these are the teams that I feel deserve an F for their off season.

Chicago Bulls Honestly I get why they chose to rebuild but trading Jimmy Butler for two marginal prospects and an injured Lavine was laughable. Worse they sent back their number 16 pick and sold their 2nd round pick for cash. Head scratching to put it nicely.

F

Indiana Pacers The Jimmy Butler trade was bad but the Paul George trade was downright incompetence at it’s finest. Waiting until the off season handicapped the Pacers for the long term and they basically moved George for a serviceable young starter and an unknown.

F

Did you like the moves your team made in NBA free agency? Let me know in the comments section.
